Good performances from all the girls in what was a hard and physical match. As the score suggests the marking was tight – the tackles hard and numerous but within minutes Ciara Ruddy registered the first score of the match. After about 15 minutes Dianaimh Green’s match was cut short with a very heavy tackle and Amy Ryan stepped in and made an outstanding contribution. Shauna Verdon and Sonia Beatty played the match of their lives notching up some very impressive scores. The half time score of 7 points for Boden to Good Councils 1 goal really was a just reflection of the effort and sportsmanship displayed by the Boden girls.

The second half was a mirror image of the first – from the pin point puck outs of Aoife Cantwell to the great combinations between Emma Doyle and Sheena Garvey both of whom made their contribution to the final score. Solid defense and a hard work rate from Shannen Egan Shauna Sherwood and Anne Marie Gleeson supplied endless opportunities to the forwards. Well done again to Sonia Beatty who scored a cracking point to the roars of her team and supporters. Anne Marie Gleeson, having being on the wrong end of a very hard tackle got up and played despite her obvious discomfort.

Finally a mention to the under 14 team members Alyson Doyle Amy Ryan and Lena McDonagh who made a significant and much appreciated contribution and were not found wanting in skills or effort – thanks girls once again. Overall we saw a tremendous “team” effort and bears well for our next Championship match against Na Fianna. This was a great result and perhaps is a good omen for the seniors who play Good Counsel in the Championship semi final next Saturday.
