Under 9s shine on a sunny Sunday morning.

Following a great training session on Saturday morning, which included interviews with 98 FM, the under 9 girls were on the road on Sunday with  28 girls travelling to Foxrock Cabinteely and another 25 girls making the longer trip to Finglas to play Erins Isle.  Great skills and fantastic performances from a great gang of girls who were all practicing over the summer.

Under 12s getting ready for the big time

After three years of go games, the under 12 girls had their second set of 15 a side matches on Sunday. Two weeks ago two teams from Foxrock Cabinteely were hosted in what was their first ever full size game and the girls won both matches. On Sunday morning, it was Raheny who came to Cherryfield with the Boden girls again winning both matches: 6-12 to 2-1 and 3-5 to 0-1.

U13 Div 1 Ladies Football (Cup):
The girls maintained their unbeaten record with another impressive display in round 3 of the cup.
After beating Clontarf by 17 pts in the league we prepared for a closer contest against the league runners-up.
The final scoreline of 8-8 v 4-4 was the result of some excellent teamplay, decision making and skill execution.
The girls lead a strong group comprised of the top 4 teams from the league along with Skerries who were promoted.
The final group game will be played next weekend against Kilmacud Crokes.
The players and mentors appreciated the support from parents at the game.

Under 13 Division 3 Championship

Ballyboughal 5-7 Ballyboden B 8-5

After an easy win over Cuala A in the Round 1 match and a narrow 1pt win over Fingallians in the round 2 game, we expected a very tough trip to Ballyboughal.

That is how it transpired as the lead changed hands several times in a topsy turvey first half.  Lucy Horan opened the scoring with a point for Boden before a couple of points had Ballyboughal ahead.

Then the goals started to rain in.  Ciara Duffy got Ballybodens first and Ballyboughal responded with a goal of their own.  Sorcha Kennedy, playing at centre back got on a ball at midfield, drove powerfully forward to score the goal of the game.  But in fairness Ballyboughal were resolute and came back at us with a couple of goals and led by 6 points approaching half time.  Ciara Duffy was in the right place to fire two goals late in the first half and we restricted Ballyboughal to just a couple of points at the half time whistle

A big third quarter was needed and that is exactly what we got.  Boden hemmed Ballyboughal in their half for the first 15 minutes & goals from Ciara Duffy, Ciara Sweeney, Lucy Horan and Emily Moynihan eased Boden in front.  Tremendous defending from the backs kept the pressure on Ballyboughal and it was 20 minutes in the second half before they registered their first score of the half.  Credit to all the girls who played their hearts out and got a well-deserved victory.

Final group game of the championship is at home next Saturday to Fingal Ravens

Semi-final time for the under 14s

Well done to the Under 14 As who defeated Foxrock Cabinteely in the championship in Cherry field on Friday night. Meanwhile on the opposite pitch, at the same time, the under 14 Bs had similar success against Clontarf. Both teams now looking forward to Championship and Shield semi-final dates in the first week of October

Ladies Football – U14 Div 2 Ladies Football (Championship Update)

The U14 Ladies made it two out two in the Championship with a great win away to St. Judes on September 2nd and overcame Foxrock Cabinteely last Friday at home in Cherryfield.

Against Foxrock the girls played against a very strong wind in the first half which combined with heavy rain at times, made for difficult playing conditions. Despite the conditions, the defence and midfield worked hard to keep the game within their reach when the teams changed ends. In the second half, it was the turn of the forwards to take advantage of the girl’s dominance in the back line and midfield to pull away to a comprehensive victory, with a full time score of 5-13 to 3-6.

The win secures the girls a Division 2 Semi Final slot in October following a break for the upcoming All Ireland Finals.
Well done to girls on their spirited performances with a special thanks to the U13 and U12 girls who played up to ensure we had a full panel for each fixture.
